NOTES FOR CONTRIBUTORS TO CRIMINAL LAWYER published by TOTTEL

 

1.       Articles are to be submitted to CRIMINAL LAWYER  Editor, Sally Ramage

at

sallyramage@hotmail.com

or

legal_consultant@btinternet.com

2.       TOTTEL will acknowledge receipt of articles and check with the authors that the articles have not been previously published elsewhere or are currently being considered by other journals.

3.       Articles are then evaluated. TOTTEL decides if the article could be considered as a non-refereed paper, or published as a commentary (a commentary may be more of a descriptive piece than an analytical or evaluative article and such an article is expected to be of the same written standard) or rejected. Points in consideration of the article are as follows:

(i)      Does the article contain original thought?

(ii)      Does the article advance the legal thought in UK criminal law?

(iii)     Is the article well written?

(iv)     Are the arguments in the article supported by sound references?

(v)     Does the article have academic and/or practical worthiness? 

(vi)     Does the article provide a suitable academic and/or practical level of evaluation and analysis of the topic?

4.       One of the following actions is then taken by TOTTEL:

(i)      The article is suitable for publication (as is) in the next available edition of CRIMINAL LAWYER.

(ii)      The article should be suitable for publication in the next available edition of CRIMINAL LAWYER, subject to the author making some minor changes.

(iii)     The article needs some major revisions in specific areas and the author should therefore re-submit the article.

(iv)     The article needs to be significantly expanded or reduced in size and should therefore be re—submitted.

(v)     The article should be rejected as the subject matter is out of CRIMINAL LAWYER’s area of interest.

(vi)     The article should be rejected based on inadequate quality.

5.       The Editor of CRIMINAL LAWYER will contact the authors with the Decision.

6.       Revisions are made to the article by the author as per the Decision.

7.       The article is then forwarded back to the Editor and accepted by Tottel.

8.       The article is published.
